Original Workshop Programme

26 June 2002, The University of Bath

Background

Anyone would agree that a critical factor in the recruitment and retention of materials students is the effectiveness of our Schools Liaison and Outreach projects.

Many such programmes exist and new ones are continually being developed, yet the stark facts remain that it is increasingly difficult to recruit and retain students.

The UK Centre for Materials Education is happy to act as a focal point for pooling information about these initiatives and to set up a National Materials Initiatives database, but we need your help to identify, evaluate and improve the existing schemes.

If you are interested in raising materials awareness within schools - as a teacher, an admissions tutor, or through industry, or if you run a scheme which does so, then this workshop is aimed at you. Come along and share your experiences, and find out how to improve the effectiveness of your initiatives.
