A UK Centre for Materials Education workshop

Aims

This dedicated workshop for holders of our Teaching Development Grants is an opportunity for all grant holders to present their progress to date, to discuss their projects with colleagues, to obtain input and exchange ideas.

It is also an opportunity for anyone wishing to apply for a grant in the next round of the scheme (Jan 2002) to find out more about it and to meet existing grant holders.

Accreditation of prior learning and experiential learning in materials technology: Richard Brown/John Wilcox, Bradford College
Skills based teaching in science and engineering degrees: current practice - best practice: David McPhail, Imperial College, London

   
11.30 Schools liaison
  2 x 15 minute presentations followed by 15 minute discussion
Identification and facilitation of teaching materials in the school curriculum: Cheryl Anderson, University of Wales, Swansea
Overview of completed pilot scheme to establish a library of equipment and resources for local schools to support teaching materials related topics: Claire Davis, University of Birmingham, (presented by Adam Mannis, UK Centre for Materials Education)
