Congratulations to Professor Lewis Elton, winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award
at the first Times Higher Awards.

As well as being a keen supporter of the Centre and a member of our Advisory Board, Professor Elton is honorary professor of higher education at University College London and a visiting professor at The University of Manchester.

Professor Elton has been an active contributor to the Centre's activities from its inception; for example:

  • advising on the booklet 'CASE: Creativity in art, science and engineering -- how to foster creativity' (published by DfEE)
  • producing a booklet entitled 'Assessing Materials Students' as part of the box-set of '12 Guides for Lecturers in Materials Education' (published by the UK Centre for Materials Education)
  • presenting as a Keynote Speaker at the international Engineering Education Conference 2006, from 24-26 July 2006 in Liverpool (hosted, and jointly organised, by the Centre)
