Student Composites Design Competition
As a key initiative of the 'Composites on Tour' project, the UK Centre
for Materials Education is organising a student composites design competition
and three inter-disciplinary workshops.

CD-ROM and Guide
The Keynote PDP guide is intended to be a user-friendly tool to support
the concept of lifelong learning by enabling students to reflect on their
past achievements, monitor their progress and learning experiences and
plan for their future development.
New aluMATTER Web Site Goes

The European Aluminium Association (EAA) and the MATTER Project at the
University of Liverpool have been collaborating on a new project to develop
innovative and interactive web-based learning tools for aluminium science
and technology.
DoITPoMS Micrograph Library
A prototype Micrograph Library being developed as part of the FDTL3 DoITPoMS
(Dissemination of Information Technology for the Promotion of Materials
Science) project has been launched recently.

Round of Grants Awarded
Following the popularity of the Teaching Development Grant Scheme in 2001,
the UK Centre for Materials Education repeated the scheme in January 2002,
expanding it to include a dedicated fund for Materials Awareness projects.
The scheme again proved very popular and was significantly over subscribed.
