  1. The Royal Academy of Engineering's Headstart programme offers 6th formers intensive residential courses introducing engineering and related careers.

  2. The Institute of Materials School Affiliates Scheme exists to assist with the teaching of Materials Science and Engineering in UK schools.

  3. The Corus Group Educational Support Service provides a guide to the wide range of educational material available for schools from Corus.

  4. The Armourers and Brasiers Company run science projects, primarily focusing on materials, in 12 primary schools around the City of London.

  5. The Tower of London (HM Royal Armouries) is developing a materials programme to add another dimension to their 'hands on' tours for school pupils.

  6. The Science Museum holds a materials themed 'Childrens' Science Night' - an all night scientific extravaganza rounded off by camping in the Museum overnight.

  7. The UK Centre for Materials Education is working with the BBC on 'Building the Impossible' a production which recreates old technologies with materials available at the time.

  8. The Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining makes presentations in schools on 'Materials in Action' and attend UCAS careers fairs.

  9. Several universities run summer schools for 6th formers considering studying materials courses.

  10. The 'Composites on Tour' trailer houses a 'hands-on' composite materials exhibition which will tour throughout Europe during the summer.
