The Keynote Project is another, recently completed, FDTL Phase 3 project in the area of Materials Technology.

The project aimed to embed and disseminate good practice in key skill development as a way of enhancing graduate employability and developing the skills of lifelong learning.

It specifically focussed on the subjects of textiles, fashion and printing, but the project outputs have very generic application. For the purposes of the project, 5 key skills were identified as being 'essential', namely communication, use of IT, numeracy, learning to learn and working with others.

At the start of the project, an extensive audit of key skill development was undertaken across 17 institutions in order to gain an institutional, student and staff perspective in this area and to provide a platform for the development of the project outputs shown on the right.

All of these outputs are now available at www.keynote-project.co.uk. The site provides information on downloading and, in the case of the personal development planning guide, customisation. The project would particularly welcome feedback about both the web site and the project outputs, via contacts named on the site.
