Navigating materials world book cover

This new guidebook, co-edited by the Centre's deputy director, Caroline Baillie, is intended to enable students to navigate through materials science and engineering courses with increased motivation, reflection, and depth.

It acts as a guide for students' travels through the foreign lands of polymers, metals, ceramics, composites, and semiconductors, and as a reference to help students interpret the basic language and laws within materials science.

The guide is based on current educational theory that helps students not only learn important facts, but also to understand core concepts and improve their thinking and learning skills.

The book is beautifully illustrated and throughout the text, expert contributors highlight key concepts and ideas demonstrating how they relate to other areas of science.

It is hoped that the guide will help students to learn about materials and enhance their thinking skills whilst also encouraging them to become aware of their own pathway and the development of their own professional and personal skills for lifelong learning.

Navigating the Materials World is published by Academic Press. For more information visit www.academicpressbooks.com
