The Centre's Database of Learning and Teaching Resources for Materials Science and Engineering can easily be searched from other websites.

Who Can Do This?

The simple answer is anyone.

  • If you run a materials related website, you can easily provide your users with access to additional content by including a search box on your website that will access this database. By doing so, your site becomes even more useful to your end users.

  • If you don't run a website yourself, you could ask the webmaster of your favourite materials site to feature this search box on their site, helping you to access even more useful resources from one place.

How Does It Work?

The setup process is very straightforward. Copy and paste the sample HTML code into a page on your website. Viewing the page in a web browser should then show some explanatory text about the database, a search box and a copy of the Centre's logo. The results of any searches carried out are displayed on the Centre's website, from where users can return to your site using the Back button in their web browser.

Where Can I See It In Action?

A number of websites have already got the service up and running:

Are There Any Restrictions?

No. The only caveat is that we reserve the right to withdraw the service at any time and for any reason. If such a situation were to arise we would make reasonable efforts to notify webmasters using the service of any changes taking place.

Who Can Help With Technical Issues?

If you need help setting up the service or using the sample code, please contact the Centre's Web Developer Johanna Kehusmaa.
