The outcome of this project was the creation of an interactive CD-ROM to supplement the contents of the first year syllabus for engineering students at Napier University. The following specific areas were explored:

  1. Classes of engineering materials
  2. Properties of materials
  3. Aircraft materials
  4. Automotive materials
  5. Materials in sport and leisure
  6. Medical materials
  7. Telecommunications

The project was evaluated through questionnaires given out before and after the issue of the CD-ROM. The response was highly positive, and there was a sharp increase in marks (based on the subject-based questions in the questionnaires) from 44% before issue of the CD, to 60% after issue.
