This project was a variant approach to the outreach scheme funded at Leeds (see Tackling Materials Awareness) and provided the opportunity to local schools to attend a residential course at Leeds. It was felt that this approach was not cost effective in the long run, and this method of getting schools involved has not been repeated since. It was felt that while a week long course might work in getting schools interested, the financial costs involved would be massive and not sustainable on current resources. The programme now offers schools and teachers specific curriculum support, if needed, and also organises a Teachers’ Day to promote interaction with local schools.
